about

Formed in 1973, Third World is one of the longest-lived reggae bands of all-time. Their unique sound is influenced by jazz, soul and funk, a style described as "reggae-fusion". They were quickly signed by Island Records, toured Europe with Bob Marley and the Wailers and only a few months before this show would release their self-titled debut 1976 album.

The talent would become evident immediately in Third World's performance at Boston's Paul's Mall in the summer of '76 as one of the most powerful reggae sets ever recorded at the prime of the iconic roots band's legendary live shows. The set flows so well, keeps the mood moving, showcasing Third World's talented vocal harmonies, great instrumentation with keyboard, guitars, drums & bass rhythm sections, together and solo. The show includes such classics from the band's first album, "Brand New Beggar" and "Freedom Song" with covers of Winston Rodney's "Slavery Days" and the Abyssinian's "Satta Massagana". This rare live recording is an overall must for any fan of Reggae music and falls into one of best live '70s reggae shows in the prime of the band's enduring career.
